Hello world!

Hi everyone! Thanks for checking me out here. I’ve been a lifelong fan of thoroughbred racing and it’s stars…if you love to follow the racehorses currently burning up the track, or if you just love the legends, legacies and lore of yesteryear, you’re in the right place.

How about Thorpedo Anna yesterday? The grizzly came out of hibernation to dominate the Azeri in  gate-to-wire fashion, and in the process answer any questions about whether she would return as good as she was in her 3 year-old season…SHE IS!  I got the chance to see her race in the horseflesh in last year’s Travers Stakes. Although losing to Fierceness by a head, that narrow loss actually helped her win Horse of the Year 2024 honors, as she beat the rest of that talented field of colts, including the future Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Sierra Leone.

I’m SO glad that her connections decided to bring Thorpedo Anna back to race as a 4 year-old. Oh, that reminds me…when I was in Saratoga Springs last summer, I had the good fortune to bump into Judy Hicks (Anna’s breeder and co-owner). She is such a lovely person, showing me photos on her cell phone of her with “The Grizzly” herself and sharing an emotional story of one of her horses that had to be put down recently. She welled up telling me about it, and asking for a photo with her after that seemed kind of  inappropriate.  Anyways, next stop for Thorpedo Anna will be the Apple Blossom H. on April 12th. In the words of her trainer Kenny McPeek, they better bring a bear, because he definitely still has a grizzly!
